Applications

Printing Inks

Environmental protection concerns everyone, and more and more companies want to contribute. The paints, inks, and coatings industry is a vital sector, serving needs from packaging and decoration to protection and functionality. Reducing VOC emissions remains a central challenge in ink formulation. “Green printing” is an important direction of technological innovation in the ink market. Trends such as water-based inks, bio-based inks, UV inks, and replacing plastic packaging with recycled fibers or water-based coatings are increasingly visible. To support this shift, Fenghong offers eco-friendly additives such as FHGEL organoclay, SM water-based bentonite, waterborne acrylic and polyurethane thickeners, PA polyamide wax rheology additives, Fengcai dispersants, and defoamers, helping customers upgrade ink products to meet evolving requirements.

Gravure Printing Inks

Gravure Printing Inks

With rising pollution-control requirements in the ink industry, national and local governments have introduced environmental regulations. Many small and medium-sized enterprises, facing the investment cost of end-of-pipe treatment, are also seeking source-level approaches. Traditional solvent-based inks contain large amounts of solvent; low-VOC solvent-based, water-based, UV, EB, and UV-LED inks have therefore been promoted in the market. Fenghong focuses on raw-material and formulation compliance, supports customers in meeting applicable regulatory requirements, and serves applications with green additive options.

Offset Printing Inks

Offset Printing Inks

In offset printing, the image and non-image areas of the printing plate remain on the same surface. The image areas are coated with a greasy ink film, while the non-image areas absorb a certain amount of water.

When applying ink, the image areas repel water and absorb the ink, whereas the non-image areas absorb water and resist ink. Fenghong’s classic organoclay product FHGEL-120 is widely used in offset inks, offering excellent anti-settling and anti-sagging properties at high cost-effectiveness. Fenghong’s flagship organoclay FHGEL-174 has good water resistance, is directly dispersible, and can be applied in various ink systems.

Screen Printing Inks

Screen Printing Inks

Screen printing inks use a wide variety of substrates and require compatibility with different solvent systems. From low-boiling to high-boiling solvents, excellent thickening and compatibility are essential. As Fenghong continues to improve product quality, it has introduced FHGEL-127G, an organoclay with white appearance, good dispersibility, and excellent anti-settling performance. It is compatible with any solvent system and offers well-rounded performance.

Flexographic Printing Inks

Flexographic Printing Inks

Flexographic inks are mainly used for printing on paper and films, usually in small quantities. Fenghong’s classic bentonite product BS-1C is applied in solvent-based inks, offering strong anti-settling performance and high cost-effectiveness. With downstream customers demanding higher quality, Fenghong has launched the FHGEL-358 organoclay, featuring a white appearance, good dispersibility, and strong anti-settling performance. It can be used not only in alkyd steel structure coatings but also in wood coatings. Fenghong’s composite bentonite product SMF is suitable for water-based inks and coatings, with excellent thickening and anti-settling performance. We also provide suitable dispersants and defoamers for these systems.
